Applications for tickets can be made by using the online system
at www.safc.com or
by contacting the club on 0191-551 5161. Visa, Mastercard, Delta and Switch cards are accepted.
Alternatively, tickets can still be obtained from the Stadium of Light ticket office, by fax on
0191 551 5150 or in writing to ‘Sales, PO BOX 165, Sunderland SR5 1WF’.
Season ticket holders wishing to take advantage of the "Voucher 62" (all away games) arrangement
can also apply by these means.
Non season ticket holders wishing to apply for tickets through the Branch for the Liverpool game
should do so immediately. Cheques payable to SAFCSA (London Branch) and a stamped addressed
envelope should be sent to : SAFCSA Travel, 27 Oak End, BUNTINGFORD, Herts. SG9 9BU. The envelope
will be used to return the match tickets if successful or the cheque if not.
As Tracey will be on holiday at the time the Branch would normally be expected
to apply for tickets for the Wigan game, members are in this instance asked to make direct
application to the club. Previous experience suggests that there will be plenty of tickets
available throught the General Sale. For similar reasons, plus a continuing reluctance by Virgin
Trains to offer group travel, members should make their own arrangements to get to the game.

SPORTS NEWS - DARTS REPORT 2009/10
Updated 8 August
2009 - 2010
The branch darts team, having been relegated from Division 1 of the APFSCIL league
last season, proceeded, (as usual!), to comfortably win the 2nd division
championship. Only one game was lost, (2nd round cup match against Derby
County), although we had to forfeit one league game, (against Scunthorpe), as we could only
muster 2 players at the pub that night.
Captain Keith Adamson played in every game,(11),
and Richie Cockton, Gordon Crossman and Andy Stephenson, (9), Geoff Lambton, (7), Andy Guthrie,(6),
Luke Marson, (4), Disco Derek Alexander and Andrew Mac Alpine (3) were the other
players.
All the players did very well, all winning more
than they lost, but the stars were the “midfield enforcers”, Andy Stephenson and Gordon Crossman,
playing at 3 and 4, winning virtually all of their single and doubles
matchesOn the individual scoring front,
Gordon Crossman led the way, with Richie Cockton and Andy Stephenson close behind. All in all, a
great team effort.
Several matches were played with less than the full 6 players,
culminating in the Scunthorpe game where we only had 2. As league rules stipulate a minimum of 3
players, we had to forfeit the match, and were docked 5 points. We are therefore looking
for new, (or old!), players to join the team.

Next season we will be playing in the APFSCIL league 1st division.
Games are played on midweek nights, (Mondays in our case for home games), in various central
London pubs, about once a month Currently, our home games are played at The Horseshoe, 24
Clerkenwell Close, EC1, nearest tube station Farringdon.
Our need for new players is urgent, as Luke Marson now works away
from London, and long-time stalwart Geoff Lambton no longer works in London. Anyone who would like
to play, (ladies and gentleman, old and young), are welcome - please contact me (Keith Adamson, tel

SPORTS NEWS - CRICKET
Updated 8 August
The Branch cricket team has performed admirably in
its last two games. Against North Star the main news was
the non-appearance of Neil Campbell who was still recovering from the effects of a Toots
& the Maytals gig the previous night. We won the
toss, batted and scored 200 in 30 overs. Matt Woolston
hammered 88* and there were useful contributions from Garry Jones, Richards Hopkins and
Richard Jaques and John Howey. We then bowled them out
for about 115. The wickets were shared between the Jones gang, John Howey, Steve Trow and
debutant Pete Boyce, a useful addition from the football team. A good drink was had by all ... well the four of us who reached the
pub.
The following week we played a strong West XI and
although we lost we went down blazing ... for a while anyway. West XI batted first and looked set for a huge total when they were racing
along at 7 an over by the drinks interval. However, a
lively second spell of 4 wickets from Matt Woolston pegged back the Westies who finished on
234 after 35 overs. In reply we batted solidly until
falling away in the last three overs. The feature was
Matt Woolston's 112 which was, the bar sages considered, the highest individual innings for
the branch. Supported particularly by Richard Hopkin
with 25 and Mark Stewart with 41 we got within reaching distance of the total before the
innings fizzled out with a sudden tumble of desperate wickets as we fell some 20 runs
short.

The Branch Cricket team after defeat by West
XI
Our next games are on tour in Bury St Edmunds in
Suffolk where we play in a four team 20/20 tournament against two teams of locals and a bunch
of Brummies. The tour party currently numbers 29
(including players, WAGs, umpires and children) and a good time is guaranteed.
If you fancy coming along, you’d be very welcome – don’t worry
if you haven’t played before. You could make a day trip
(about 1.5 hours from London), stay overnight in a B&B or, if you’re the younger/more
adventurous type, camp by the ground. For further
details, contact the skipper John Howey: johnhowey73@aol.com
LONDON BRANCH POLL
Updated 27 July
Right time to get out those crystal balls (ooh er etc.) and make your 10/11 season predictions.
How big a gap will Cana's departure leave? Bramble?!*!? I'm sure more signings are on their way -
but right now if you had to put your marker down you'd say.....
FIXTURE CHANGES:
Updated 27 July
Five of Sunderland's Barclays Premier League fixtures have been rescheduled for
live TV coverage.
Additionally, the home fixture against Manchester
City, will now kick off at 3pm on Sunday 29 August due to our opponents' Europa
League involvement the previous Thursday. For the same reason, there is also a likely switch for
the home Aston Villa game but this has not yet been confirmed.
Sunderland's home fixture with Arsenal on Saturday 18
September will be the first of the club's televised matches in front of the ESPN cameras from 5.00
pm. The match was originally scheduled for 3.00 pm.
The remaining four televised fixtures - away trips to Blackburn Rovers,
Newcastle United and Chelsea and a home clash with
Everton, will be live on Sky Sports.
The trip to Blackburn has been moved to the evening of Monday 18 October with
an 8.00 p.m. kick-off while the derby fixture with Newcastle United has been switched to 4pm on
Sunday 31 October.
The game against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge will now kick-off at 4.10 p.m. on
Sunday 14 November and the home game against Everton will kick-off at 8.00 pm on Monday 22
November.
One further change has been announced - the Premier League Press Release about fixture changes
(mostly due to TV) also included the switch of our home game against
Newcastle to the following day, Sunday 16th January, with a noon kick-off
"due to a police request". The change of course will seriously affect our ability to arrange group
travel to the game. Further information about this will be made available nearer the time.
