Sports
We’ve been taking part in London leagues across a number of sports for as long as the Branch has existed. We currently have Pool, Darts and Quiz teams competing in the APFSCIL leagues, and play in regular cricket and football matches.
Sports events are a great chance for Branch members to get together with other members and (very) occasionally showcase any latent sporting talent they may have. All of our teams are very sociable and we’re always on the lookout for new members of any age, gender and ability.
The pool, darts and quiz teams tend to have around a dozen fixtures a year, played on midweek evenings throughout the year and surrounded by beer and craic. Their fixtures will often be publicised on the Branch Twitter and Facebook accounts.
The cricket team play a number of fixtures across London during the summer months. All abilities are welcome, and kit is provided.
The Branch also has a 7-a-side football team, which plays every Monday evening at Market Road Football Pitches near Caledonian Road. Games kick off between 6pm and 9.20pm and are usually followed by pints 🍻. We also play 11-a-side matches throughout the year, including a regular charity match against Newcastle United London Branch for extra bragging rights.
If you’d like more information or to get involved with any of these teams, please use the contact form to get in touch with the Sports Captain, Jonny Winship.

Socials
As well as arranging meetups for away matches and finding pubs to watch televised games in, the branch regularly organises social and charity events, including sports fixtures and trips to watch the Durham cricket team.
We have a good relationship with Sunderland AFC and have arranged regular appearances of the team and club management at Branch socials. We have also hosted a number of ex-footballers and special guests, including Kieran Richardson, Jeff Brown, and Sir Bob Murray.
