If you watched the Lionesses’ (including four former Sunderland players) impressive 6-0 win over Russia in a World Cup 2018 qualifier on Tuesday, you will realise women’s football is back.
The London Branch will again be sponsoring SAFC Ladies for the coming season (now a winter rather than summer game brrrrrrr….) and their opening game is in our neck of the woods. The Lasses will be parading new signings Simone Koren, Kasia Lipka, Ellie Stewart, Zaneta Wyne, as well as the welcome return from long-term injury of Kylla Sjoman, when they play Reading Women at Wycombe Wanderers ground, Adams Park on Sunday next 24th September. Kick-off is at 2.00 p.m.
Adams Park is situated in Hillbottom Road, High Wycombe, HP12 4HJ. The ground is some 2.5 miles from the town centre. Bus 32 will take you within a 10-minute walk from the ground. Or get a taxi from the station which is on the Chiltern Line from Marylebone. If travelling by road, leave the M40 at junction 4 from where the ground is signposted.
It was good at the corresponding game last year to have the opportunity to meet Branch members for whom that venue is accessible and hopefully they and others will be there again to add their support to the team.
