Staines on Sunday

The Lady Blackcats, sponsored by the London Branch, complete their creditable first season in the Women’s Super League top flight with a game against Chelsea at Staines F.C. next Sunday 4th October with a 6.00 p.m. kick-off.  After at one time hoping this game might offer our Ladies the chance of the Championship or a possible European place, results last week-end have meant that, irrespective of the result, we will now finish in 4th place – which is four places higher than many outside of the club predicted at the start of the season!  The game still has its attractions though as it will be a title decider between Chelsea and Manchester City who will be at home simultaneously to Notts. County.  Chelsea will be out for revenge after losing the return game 0-4 and will be not be expecting an easy ride. It is also the other of only two chances we have had to support the team in the South East, to cheer striker Beth Mead on to secure her position as the League’s top goalscorer, and offers an opportunity to provide a good send-off to left back Victoria Greenwell who after 16 years playing for the club is hanging up her boots after this game.  We know the team would welcome vocal support from all exiles in the South East.

There is plenty of information on how to get there and where to eat and drink at : http://www.footballgroundguide.com/staines-town-fc-wheatsheaf-park.html#adirections-and-car-parking

To this we can add that there are trains to Staines from Waterloo at 09, 18, and 39 minutes past each hour, with return times at 10, 16 and 41.  Bus no 458 from Staines bus station passes near the ground.
